This spring we have been very busy and the birds have also been busy in our back yard. Here are a few of my favorites pictures from the past couple months.
Introducing Miss Squawks a lot. She is a Killdeer that made her nest in our driveway. Every time we walk past to get the mail or check the other Bluebird boxes she likes to talk to us (squawks a lot) and pull our attention away from her nest by acting injured.

This spring we installed six Bluebird boxes March 1st. Three are at our home and we placed the other three on the Kokosing Gap Trail. As of today Bluebirds are in three of the six boxes with sparrows in one box and Tree Swallows in another. The last box is still empty.
We also installed two additional Bluebird boxes at the Bladensburg Elementary School April 1st.

Beautiful post! Those killdeer pictures are stunning, what a great bird to have make it's home in your driveway. Hanging bluebird houses is such a great family thing to do. I have several posted out here on our farm too. I've seen a few bluebirds hanging around them. Hopefully we will have bluebirds nesting soon.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post with fantastic pictures! Your whole family must be thrilled with all this activity. I would have never thought to actually open the bluebird box to check for eggs. My condo neighbors put a bluebird box right up by their back door and the bluebirds are moving in. I would have thought that would be too close to the house, but apparently it's not. And a killdeer in the driveway! I love her name. When I lived on a farm we had a house finch who came to stay every summer - we called him Loudmouth, for obvious reasons!
